1.Awareness
Programme
IRDS organized women rights Awareness camps
in its own Centers of Hooghly, North 24 Parganas and South 24
Parganas.
Handicapped Awareness Camp:
Generally handicapped children are considered as burden in the
society. There is no suitable educational and Rehabilitation infrastructure
for handicapped children. IRDS creates awareness among common
people for giving love & care to the handicap children.
HIVAIDS Awareness Camp: This organization organized many HIV/AIDS
awareness in the different district as well site of NH. We provide
information for taking precaution form HIV/ AIDS among truckers,
& commercial Sex workers and said about safe sexual methods;
we also distributed condoms & leaf lets and organized songs
and drama based on HIV/ AIDS.
Self Help Group Awareness Camp: IRDS organized SHG awareness camps
in various districts in West Bengal. Especially in South 24 Parganas
, North 24 Parganas and Hooghly districts. Many Self Help Groups
made by IRDS in these three districts through these camps.
2.Training:
Educational Training Programme ;
On 2010-11 IRDS started Aya cum assistance Nurse Training for
the poor SC & ST women in its Barasat Centre. Many women would
be sustaining through this programme. With the help of local doctors
and nurses we are conducting this programme
Vocational Training:
IRDS has been running Training programme for young women and adolescents
on different Crafts. There are 4 centers for trainees where they
are getting proper training on different crafts. Organization
has very efficient and qualified vocational instructors who are
giving training to the beneficiaries. IRDS have own designers
to upgrade the trainees. These kind of vocational Training for
women are being organized to make them self reliant through initiating
their own small business.
Jute Diversified Products and Jute Bags: West Bengal is No. 1
on Jute production in all over India. Jute is only pollution less
Fiber & jute made production is very demand full in abroad.
Keep it in mind IRDS starts produce jute diversified products
in its training centers. Plastic is almost a unused product to
the conscious buyers and Jute made bags are very wanted and we
are producing fancy bags, school bags, ladies purses, shopping
bags laptop bags, folders, water bottle bags and many kinds of
useful bags made of jute.
Artistic Mat Weaving:
One of the most demandable products is Sabang Artistic Mat (made
of Sabang Grass). Varsities of products like Sleeping Mat, Party
Mat, Sitting mat, Door Curtain, Window Curtain, Water Bottle carrier,
Tiffin Carrier, Lamp Shade, Pen Stand and many decorative &
useful items are making with this Mat. We have Looms & Machines
for the trainees. We hired very experienced Trainers & expert
designer to help the trainees skilled upgrading.
.Machine Embroidery,Zari & Kantha:
SHGs of IRDS are learning latest & market demanding designs
on embroidery in modern machines with Motor fittings to make it
fast. We hired expert designer to make a mixed production with
Kantha,Zori & Embroidery .
These products already got a good response in the local market.
Zori Zardausi: Many SHGs are making handmade Zori Zardausi Sharees
and Dresses with handmade Dhadda which is most demandable product
in the market
Bamboo Products:
One of the best attractive handicrafts is now making with the
sort of Bamboo It is a much demanded product in all over the country.
Products are like Flower vase, Different shape and sizes Lamp
shades, Ships, Fan, Lantern, Cup and saucer etc.
Our Crafts persons have won best craftsperson prize of the State
from National Rural Development Society, Hyderabad, and A.P. on
this product.
3.Health
Health awareness is one of the activities which organization conducts
since its establishment. It works for awareness & services
for the basic Health Care to the deprived & needy people in
its working areas. A brief picture of health related activates
could be seen as follows:
Research and Study on Health: We have done Post Pilot Evaluation
of STG in three districts jointly with Institute of Health &
Family Welfare, Govt. of West Bengal.
HIV/AIDS Workshop: IRDS organized many workshops and camps on
HIV/AIDS in different district in west Bengal. We have distributed
many medicines, Condoms Posters and Literatures etc in our working
areas with the help of proper trained workers volunteers &
experienced doctors. Blood test and general health check up were
also included in this programme.
Charitable Dispensary: We have been running 2 charitable dispensary
at Mayapur , Hooghly and Barasat ,North 24 Parganas
Eye Examination Camp:
One big Eye Testing Came Organized by IRDS on 20th December 2010
at Badu, Madhyamgram, North 24 parganas District. A team of Doctors
form Renuka Eye Hospital, Barasat has been tested more than 200
patients and 65 cataracts have been operated by them. We have
distributed free glasses among the 75 patients.
General Health Camp: We have organized a general Health Camp in
Hooghly Dist. Where hundreds of beneficiaries checked up their
health and many of them hospitalized for operation.
4.
Education:
. Value Based Education: Empowerment of an individual becomes
a reality when the individual is able to access value based quality
education. To create resources who will in future create a truly
civilized society. We have in our small effort started "Green
Valley School "a primary School at Kamarpara , Dist-Hooghly
on 2004 for the ST Children. Education in this context not only
means providing academic inputs, but also providing assistance
to life. It's an ongoing programme.
Condense Course: On 2011 March IRDS started the condense course
for the school drop girls at Mayapur Kalyan Kendra, Hooghly of
Arambagh block sponsored by Central Social Welfare Board, Govt.
of India. 25 girls are getting education for the class IX and
X. They will be treated as a formal school student.
Children and Old Aged Education: IRDS also was taken initiatives
for Adult Education for the poor village women at Mayapur, Hooghly,
Budge Budge, South 24 Parganas and Joynagar, South 24 Parganas.
We have been running ten numbers of adult Education Schools.
5.Old Age Care
IRDS is supporting some Old Age People in Urban & Rural areas
with the collections & contribution, & going to open an
old age home very shortly. We are taking care groups of old aged
in our Mayapur, Hooghly centre with food and facilities.
6.Cultural Programme
IRDS' have promoted high value of humanity, brotherhood, peace
and harmony among people through cultural development activities.
In this context several activities like, Independence Day Celebration,
Republic Day Celebration, Rabindra Jayanti, Women's Day Celebration,
Cultural Shows in Evening, performance of Folk Music, Dance Drama,
Stage and street plays, IRDS' Annual Day Celebration are being
organized in the IRDS working areas.

7.Seminars , meeting and Workshop
Seminar on Kashmir Issue: A seminar was organized with the members
of Indian Association and IRDS on the subject "Aspirations
of the People of entire Kashmir" In the discussion various
issues were raised including the historical and political backgrounds
on 15th September.2010.
Foundation Day Celebration on 6trh July: In the first part of
the programme Dr. Anjan Adhikary,Gopa Mukherjee, Somnath Mukherjee
Hrishikesh Mukherjee, Dr. Gopa Das Mukherjee, who presided over
the meeting on 6th July 2010 at 106B R. B. Avenue , Kolkata in
office premises of IRDS. In the second part there was a meeting
presided by Sri Somnath Mukherjee. The Programme ended by few
Songs, Dances and Recitations.
Workshop on Craft design: We have done 3 workshops in three districts
on Jute, Zori and bamboo crafts. Many craftspersons have been
benefited with these programmes.
8.Games and Sports
We use to arrange annual sports programme in our Hooghly and Barasat
centers. Many children from 3 years to 15 years participate in
this programme .
9. Women & Child Welfare
As part of its advocacy programme IRDS works to make people aware
about the rights of women and child Labourers. These activities
are being organized in slums areas of South Kolkata. Punch line
being this campaign is that "every women has a rights to
live with dignity and every child has right to (be in school)
education."
Help to Orphanage: IRDS is sponsoring a few of inmates of Antodaya
Anath Ashram at Purba Midnapur every year.
10. Agriculture:
IRDS has been working among exclusively villagers; agriculture,
horticulture and sericulture. More than 2700 families are getting
benefits from these activities of the organization. Following
are the activities which have been organized under agriculture,
horticulture and sericulture programme.
Organic Farming: Organization promotes organic farming among villagers.
IRDS awarded to the farmers and SHGs of the benefit of organic
farming in different villages in its working areas through campaign.
11.Environmental
Progrmme
Every year IRDS organizes World Environmental Day with plantation
in its working areas.
Prabhat Feri is organized as Environmental issues.
On 2010-11 IRDS implemented the Environmental programme named
"National Environment Awareness Campaign" sponsored
by Ministry of environment & Forests, Govt of India via School
of fundamental Research.

12.Micro
Credit:
IRDS have been promoted 250 Self Help Groups in Hooghly District,250
in South 24 Parganas, 50 in Purba Midnapore, 300 in North 24 Parganas
and 29 groups in Burdwan District on 2010-11.Most of the Groups
are Credit linkage with the Indian Bank ,State Bank of India and
UBI. We are nurturing the Groups in Various ways as giving training
and involving them in income generating programme.
13.Income
Generating Programme
IRDS works for sustainable income Generation activities through
Micro Finance among the weaker women section.
We provide training in different trade, management, accounting
& Banking. We assist for bank Linkage, account operation,
Minutes, Regulations etc. We also help in preparation of viable
bankable project report for SHGs & individual enter premiers.
During the year 2010-11 we have formed more than 600 SHGs in different
Dist of West Bengal.
We have been running SHPI (Self Help Promotion Institution) programme
with the financial support of NABARD.
14.Marketing:
IRDS provides marketing training for the rural artisans and SHGs.
Self Help Groups of IRDS are making different Handicrafts and
Handloom Products and for the marketing IRDS use to take part
numbers of exhibitions. Last year we have taken part to the exhibitions
organized by NABARD, Industrial Trade fair by DIC, International
Trade fair in Delhi through Jute Board of India and many others
exhibitions. IRDS got the Best Stall Award in Crafts Mela of NIRD
Hyderabad on 2010-11.
Our organization also has been conducted numbers of Handicrafts
and Handloom Exhibitions across the Country for the rural poor
Artisans and Self Help Groups.
